Computer Science Pathway

The Computer Science Pathway, a key component of Boys & Girls Clubs’ Education & STEM programming.

While learning to code, imitating algorithmic processes, and designing original technologies, members build key social and emotional skills like teamwork, perseverance, and the ability to identify and solve problems

The CS Pathway is designed to guide members through a series of increasingly challenging activities, including:

  • Hour of Code: Youth are exposed to computer science through accessible, drag and drop coding and games.

  • CS Unplugged: Youth gain a conceptual understanding of computer science through low-tech group activities.

  • App Lab: Youth work in teams to design, develop and present original ideas for Apps.

Money Matters

Smart Financial Decisions Today for a Bright Future.

The financial decisions that young people make today will impact their future. That’s why Boys & Girls Clubs pair youth with supportive Club mentors and volunteers to develop the financial skills that can lead to workplace readiness, lifelong financial stability and overall success.

For more than 15 years, Money Matters: Make it Count has taught teens how to set goals, budget, save and invest. In addition to staff-led financial literacy sessions, young people practice their financial decision-making skills through fun, engaging digital tools and games. Teens who complete Money Matters show improved financial management skills, including saving money and sticking to a budget.

MyFuture Online Learning Activities

Now more than ever, youth need digital literacy skills in order to connect with friends and family, learn online, and prepare for great futures. Digital Literacy Essentials activities are engaging and exciting project experiences. They guide youth ages 8-15 to explore digital safety, digital privacy, digital presence, online communication and retro gaming. Delivered through MyFuture, Digital Literacy Essentials activities allow youth to upload projects, build a digital portfolio, and earn stars and badges.

Digital Literacy Essentials has also been adapted for Native Youth, and Clubs serving Native Youth are encouraged to learn more about culturally relevant digital programming at https://naclubs.org/
