Saafir Darden Rocks the Club & the McCallum Theatre

His talent was apparent as soon as he stepped through our doors.

15-year-old Saafir has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs since 2013.

Every day Saafir would come in with a drum pad and drum sticks in hand. He would dance and practice on his drum pad for hours. His energy is contagious, and all see his positivity.

When a generous donor granted an electric drum kit to the Club, that’s when Saafir really took off.

He performed at the Club’s Holiday Feast, and our Palm Springs Police Chief Reyes was so impressed that he along with other officers from their Association found a way to purchase Saafir his own drum set for Christmas so that he could continue to practice at home.

The Club also guided and encouraged Saafir to enter a performance into the 2019 Open Call at the McCallum Theater; a talent competition with the Valley’s best performers of all ages. The audition process includes videos, callbacks, and live auditions.
